Quality Manager

About the role

The Quality Manager will lead the execution and deployment of the organization's Strategic Quality Plan, serving as the Management representative for the Quality management system. This role involves managing quality resources to ensure product flow aligns with internal, industry, and regulatory standards, as well as customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manages the Quality/customer interface to proactively assure requirements are understood and satisfied.
• Responsible for the problem resolution process, whether internal or customer identified issues, ensuring deadlines are met and using standard reporting tools (8D or customer specified variants).
• Responsible for Customer Scorecard performance and engaging relevant departments or areas in root cause/corrective action activities if performance does not meet requirements.
• Manages the Plant Quality Department, overseeing day-to-day operations, employee recruitment, budget, resource allocation, employee assessment and development, supplier management, and implementation and verification of Quality Management Systems.
• Leads, implements, and verifies appropriate Quality Management Systems throughout the operation, providing quality leadership and support in product development and launch activities.
• Oversees and/or leads audits of internal Quality Systems and industry quality system requirements (e.g., TS16949, VDA, ISO 9001, etc.).
• Maintains oversight of production part approval (PPAP) documentation to ensure customer requirements are met in new or modified products and processes.
• Analyzes organizational Quality Metrics and conducts managerial reviews to evaluate results and recommend action plans to address operational gaps.
• Participates in product development and launch activities, identifying customer expectations, manufacturing processes, and ongoing production test support.
• Authorizes and validates quality documentation, including Control Plans, Standard Work Instructions, permits for deviation, and Measurement Systems Analysis.
• Ensures the completion of daily production line startup verifications, including Poka-Yoke checks.
• Owes the initiation and closure of product containment activities, including the publication and approval of Standard Work Instructions and verification of containment personnel training and proficiency.
• Verifies the presence and use of gaging equipment and ensures containment personnel are trained and proficient in its use.
• Validates Quality Lab and associated product and/or evaluation requirements.
• Owns the initiation and authorization of stopping any process or product delivery in cases of non-conformance to customer expectations, safety, or environmental risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a technical field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum six (6) years working in the Quality function within a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of two (2) years in a supervisor or leadership role.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret drawings to ensure understanding of agreed quality parameters and product-specific requirements.
• Experience in quality tools and process/production control methods, including APQP, Control Plans, FMEA, GD&T, MSA, PPAP, and SPC.
• Expertise in problem-solving and analytical skills using 8D methodology, including Is-Is Not, Fishbone Diagram, Brainstorming, Affinity Diagrams, and Three Legged 5 Why.
