Quality Manager

About the Role

The Quality Manager provides technical and quality leadership across the production process, overseeing the Quality System, analyzing production and supplier sample data, and ensuring compliance with applicable requirements. This role also participates in daily and monthly quality and safety audits of equipment and personnel.

Responsibilities

• Approach all work, decisions, and communication with a focus on improving quality and eliminating waste.
• Stop any operation that does not meet customer expectations or violates quality or safety standards.
• Collaborate with INDEVCO Group divisions to drive improvements.
• Continuously improve processes independently and as a team member.
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards and requirements.
• Maintain day-to-day machine operations in line with the Quality System policies and procedures.
• Foster a teamwork environment focused on producing quality products.
• Ensure machine preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule.
• Promote safe operations by following safety guidelines and holding self and others accountable.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Initiate and support improvement initiatives.
• Maintain training in the Quality System and internal auditing, and train others.
• Maintain open communication with employees, addressing improvement ideas and concerns promptly.
• Coordinate with the sales group on new projects and potential jobs.
• Develop and maintain workflows for technical trials, distribute reports, and recommend changes.
• Research materials, pricing, and related purchasing activities.
• Maintain ISO Quality System and SQF certifications.
• Develop custom tools to improve workflow in technical and quality areas.
• Visit customers to review product performance and recommend improvements.
• Manage verification, validation, and best practices in the Food Safety Plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quality systems/management, chemical engineering, polymer science, or related field; equivalent education and experience considered.
• Five+ years of progressive quality experience in manufacturing, including leading quality systems, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
• Supervisory or management experience with employee development, cross-functional coordination, and customer/supplier communication.
• Experience with ISO-based quality management systems and internal auditing; certification maintenance preferred.
• Experience with SQF, regulatory compliance, and flexible packaging manufacturing (blown film or inline printing) strongly preferred.
• Professional quality certification (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Manager) preferred.

Knowledge and Competencies

• Understanding of products, technical data, and performance on customers’ equipment.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory machine functions and Quality Systems/Food Safety standards.
• Working knowledge of flexible packaging, including inline printing and blown film.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is performed in office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments, requiring time on the production floor. Involves prolonged sitting/standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Exposure to machinery, noise, heat, chemicals, and plastics manufacturing conditions. Occasional travel and flexibility outside standard hours may be required.
