Quality Manager
About the role
We're seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead all quality assurance and control functions within a highly engineered, tight-tolerance gear production environment. This is a hands-on leadership role with direct impact on product integrity, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Quality Department, providing direction to inspectors and technicians.
- Oversee in-process and final inspections for gear manufacturing operations.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer quality requirements.
- Apply and interpret AGMA standards and complex engineering specifications.
- Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and drive structured root cause analysis.
- Execute process improvement initiatives to reduce scrap and increase capability.
- Maintain and calibrate all quality and inspection equipment.
- Interface directly with customers for audits, problem resolution, and quality reviews.
- Partner with Engineering and Production teams during new product launches.
- Monitor and report key quality metrics including PPM, scrap, and rework trends.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of quality leadership experience in a precision gear manufacturing setting.
- Deep understanding of gear inspection equipment (gear analyzers, CMM, profile/lead measurement, runout testing).
- Strong working knowledge of AGMA standards and tight-tolerance machining.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Proven success with ISO 9001 quality systems; AS9100 experience a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Degree in engineering or related field preferred.
