About the Role
Responsible for all operations of the Layout Department. This includes close contact with Engineering, Operations, and other Quality Department personnel.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the health and safety of all team members.
- Operate and program the CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
- Complete the layout of castings for PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
- Complete the layout of pattern changes.
- Complete the layout of engineering changes.
- Communicate timely with all managers and supervisors.
Requirements
- Proficient knowledge of PC software applications including Word, Excel, 4D, Docushare, Minitab, CAD, Gage Track, and mainframe software (e.g., Blis-400).
- Ability to operate and program a CMM.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Ability to perform gage calibration and tracking.
- Ability to use auditing tools such as calipers, micrometers, and digital equipment.
- Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control) and MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions
The Layout Technician will reside in the office and on the production floor. Must be able to adhere to conditions of the plant.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and on their feet 50% on the production floor.
- Must be able to move about inside the office and in the plant.
- This position will operate a computer and other machinery in the plant.
- Must be able to frequently communicate with employees and other individuals in person and by telephone.
Qualifications
Two-year technical degree or a combined equivalent of technical coursework and related work experience. Prefer two years of prior layout experience.
