Job Duties
- Oversight of laboratory testing to produce reliable, impartial, and precise data, adhering to internal and customer requirements
- Determination of correct test procedures and equipment to carry out testing according to internal and/or customer standards
- Ensuring accurate recording and reporting of data from all analyses and tests within prescribed timeframes, to internal and TS 16949 standards
- Adherence to proper testing documentation practices
- Form and maintain statistical records in accordance with TS 16949 procedures
- Ensuring laboratory adheres to TS 16949 requirements
- Cordination of external testing activities
- Carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses
- Maintaining laboratory production levels to standard
- Updating and maintaining Laboratory manual and scope
- Overseeing laboratory manpower requirements, hiring, scheduling, and planning
- Responsible for technician task delegation, coaching, training, safety, performance, and corrective action
- Conducting regular performance appraisals
- Ensuring laboratory houses adequate equipment and resources to meet company testing capacities and requirements
- Updating and maintaining Laboratory equipment standards
- Developing requirements for new laboratory equipment, creating RFQs, attaining quotations, kicking off, and overseeing procurement for entire projects
- Creating equipment work instructions and training laboratory technicians on proper and safe operation of laboratory equipment
- Maintaining and updating laboratory layout
- Using computers and performing mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs
- Keeping up to date with technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability
- Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks
- Maintaining laboratory equipment list
- Maintaining equipment files and all relevant documentation
- Maintaining and coordinating schedules for calibration of all laboratory equipment and gauges
- Maintaining inventory levels for laboratory supplies
- Writing reports, summaries, and protocols regarding experiments
- Training lab technicians on report and summary writing requirements
- Reviewing reports and providing to applicable departments
- Performing limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments
Requirements
- Minimum Community College Degree in a related field and/or minimum three years’ experience in a laboratory
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with metal and plastic plating testing and weld cut and etch
- Experience with metrology equipment (scanners, CMM, hand tools)
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques, terminology, equipment, and materials
- Knowledge of data processing
- Ability to use and maintain laboratory equipment
- Understanding of laboratory instrumentation, signal conditioning, and data acquisition
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instruction
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate applicable ethics and due diligence
- Manage time effectively
- Excellent presentation skills
