About the Role

As a CNC Quality Inspector at Protolabs, you will ensure parts and order fulfillment meet customer requirements before shipping. This position is for the Weekday Nights (WDN) shift: Monday–Thursday, 5 PM–3 AM.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct X, Y, Z measurements
  • Perform visual cosmetic inspection
  • Verify part counts
  • Inspect completed orders for packaging and fulfillment accuracy
  • Enter process information into the computer
  • Identify quality issues related to manufacturing processes and order fulfillment
  • Interface with shift supervisors and quality control staff regarding order quantities and part quality
  • Coordinate corrective actions with department supervisors and co-workers
  • Determine if an order is shippable
  • Transport finished parts to the shipping area
  • Communicate with CQRs as needed
  • Provide feedback to team leads/supervisors on training needs for the production floor
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area with an emphasis on efficiency and utilization
  • Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance
  • Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to comprehend and follow printed and on-screen instructions, as well as directions from supervisors
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience using measuring instruments such as scales and calipers
  • Able to work safely with sharp tools/objects (e.g., hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal-cutting pliers)
  • Basic computer and calculator proficiency
  • Able to read and write in English and perform basic arithmetic
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Punctuality and good attendance
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Pay

$18.08 - $22 an hour

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally required to sit, use a computer, telephone, and printer
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, or kneel
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds

Work Environment

  • Indoors (A/C), nonsmoking, primarily in a manufacturing area exposed to machinery and noise
  • Eye protection and safety shoes required
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
  • Occasional work near moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock risk, and vibration
  • Noise level typically quiet to moderate
