About the role
Millennium Space Systems (MSS), a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our dynamic team in El Segundo, California. This position’s internal job code is Quality Inspector Sr. Our team is currently hiring for grade 24.
Responsibilities
- Initiates corrective actions with our Manufacturing, ATLO, and Engineering teams
- Maintains systems that will assure the quality and traceability of the incoming materials and final products
- Interfaces and/or works closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping personnel on procedural issues involving design, methods, tooling, cost and other areas involved in the control of product quality
- Makes sure all manufacturing processes are being performed in accordance with approved specifications and standards
- Documents discrepancies as they occur during manufacturing & test operations
- Supports in other inspection areas defined by Millennium Space Systems Leadership as business needs require
- Develops, implements, and audits inspection and test plans, acceptance criteria, and in-process work instructions
- Facilitates root cause analysis and resolution with manufacturing / production area DR’s
- Affords annual audits and systems surveys
- Makes recommendations to company leadership on the implementation of process improvements on assigned program(s) or product areas
- Demonstrates working knowledge and interfaces of MES systems (JIRA, Costpoint, etc.)
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
- More than 3 years of experience performing Quality Inspections
- More than 3 years of experience working with Quality Assurance specifications and requirements
- More than 3 years of experience documenting corrective actions and non-conformance
- More than 3 years of experience in working with blueprints, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
- More than 1 year of experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and blueprints
- More than 3 years of experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators
- Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis
Preferred Qualifications
- More than 3 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly processes and procedures
- More than 3 years of experience working with ESD, IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards
- Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
- Held an IPC quality certification

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Shift: This position is primarily 1st shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives. Candidates must be able to work any shift assigned. Union: This is an hourly union-represented position governed by the Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union (CMM&IC Local 721).
