Airbus Americas, Inc is seeking a Quality Inspector, Mechanical to join our team in Mobile, AL. You will be part of a team responsible for executing and confirming quality inspections during aircraft production, with a focus on the aircraft structure and mechanical systems.

About the Team

Our Engineers at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facility take aircraft from concept to customer delivery, working with production teams on assembly, technical information, quality control, maintenance, and health & safety across flowlines and flightlines.

Working Environment

Located at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley, the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. This facility strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and supports Airbus’ global competitiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Execute technical inspections during aircraft production to authorize manufacturer operations.
  • Prepare and perform visual, incoming, first article, and final inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications, customer requirements, and certification standards.
  • Document inspections in SAP-based production orders and SAL-based IT systems, including inspection marks and aircraft documentation, and prepare first article inspection reports.
  • Support troubleshooting, Functional Test Procedures (FTPs), and Quality Survey requests.
  • Compile technical data for non-conformance and launch NCMS-based quality discrepancy sheets for assessment per manufacturing engineering documentation.
  • Document inspection results in FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP-based IT systems.
  • Develop skills to audit Non-Conformance Rework Orders as part of the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Perform audits/reviews of workbooks to validate PV approval and process adherence.
  • Track and maintain components during the Non-Conformance process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experience as a Quality Inspector in an aviation company, with emphasis on mechanical and/or structural components and assemblies.
  • Previous experience in a mechanic or technician role is highly desirable.
  • Airline experience is desirable.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License preferred, including inspection authorization.

Physical Requirements

  • Vision: Able to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Able to hear conversations in person and via teleconference/phone, and detect sounds on the production floor, including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: Able to participate in conversations, meetings, and communications.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, fax) and production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts), including using electronic identification cards for building access.
  • Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture, equipment, and tools.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods during meetings or computer work.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving.
  • Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
