About the role

A Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring all dietary supplement products comply with the specifications established by MeriCal and cGMPs. The Quality Inspector conducts objective & subjective measurements and makes determinations if any non-conformances occurred. They work to guarantee high quality output through random sampling and testing on anything from receiving, in process manufacturing and finished packaged product for release. Items that do not meet specifications are investigated and corrective actions are taken to ensure the issue does not occur again.

Responsibilities

  • Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices [21 CFR Part 111, 117 & 211]
  • Ability to follow instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for the materials, components or product
  • Conducts sampling and ensures testing against appropriate methods
  • Maintain records of testing and document quantity of defective product per batch
  • Collect samples for Analytical, Microbial, Customer and Retains as applicable and document within the appropriate quality record (batch record, specification, unipoint, etc.)
  • Enter quality data or release in ERP system under the guidance of Quality Inspector III or above
  • Performs in process testing under the guidance of Quality Inspector II [such as allergen, ATP, Water Activity, Brix, Hardness, Thickness, Friability, etc.]
  • Verify appropriate ID tagging & organization of staged bulk & finished goods on the production floor
  • Ensure verification monitoring equipment [scales, metal detectors, torque meter etc.] is functioning correctly per our established SOPs
  • Conduct bulk and final product acceptable quality limit [AQL] inspections per established SOPs
  • Under Quality Inspector III or above guidance, make disposition decisions as needed
  • Review cleaning Logs and provide verification signature to release lines
  • Communicate and alert management of any unusual occurrence and any pertinent issues that affects raw materials, production and/or packaging
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to company safety policies and procedures
  • May be required to operate forklift, pallet jacks, etc. if needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and other software necessary to work in the Quality Inspection Department. Attention to detail and ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to read, write and effectively communicate in English. Knowledge of or experience in proper sampling technique a plus. Knowledge of quality standards and testing methodologies a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) preferred
  • Should be able to lift a maximum of 25-30 lbs. of material when needed

Skills

Must have a strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including 21 CFR Part 111, 117, and 211. Must be able to conduct sampling and testing according to established methods and record results accurately. Must possess excellent attention to detail and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $18.00-$25.00. The compensation offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and/or education.
