About the role
This role supports Spirit Commercial, a division of Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. that designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The position focuses on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Use and interpret drawings, inspection manuals, specifications, shop mathematics, precision measuring instruments, and specialized inspection machines.
- Apply working knowledge of Quality Management System policies, procedures, and company specifications.
- Coordinate with internal teams and customer representatives to accomplish work assignments.
- Operate testing machines, calculate and record results, and maintain required certifications.
- Plan sequences of operations and follow inspection procedures to accept or reject processes, parts, or assemblies.
- Verify tool qualifications and prepare/maintain Quality records.
- Work across equivalent or lower-level Inspector job codes and cross-train in Assembly, Composite, Metals, Process, and Systems/Payload Structures Mechanic classifications.
- Demonstrate strong written, verbal, and computing skills.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of aircraft or mechanical experience.
- Ability to read blueprints and proficiency in basic computer operations.
- Must be able to work any shift, including alternate work weeks (AWW).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in aircraft inspection or aerospace fabrication/assembly.
- Experience with MS Office, MES, CATIA, and SAP.

Pay
- Starting pay: $23.66/hour.
- Potential to earn up to $39.32/hour per the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
Kansas-based employees may qualify for a $5,000 state Aviation tax credit for up to five years.
