Quality Inspector - Electromechanical/Welding

About the role

You will support SQA's national inspection team in the field by performing quality inspections of electromechanical components as a quality representative for our client. This is a part-time, 1-year contract opportunity requiring support one day per week, with a flexible schedule Monday through Friday (no weekend work).

Responsibilities

• Conduct visual, physical, and dimensional inspections (both in-process and final) of parts per project specifications and requirements
• Perform incoming inspections from external providers of products and services (e.g., nickel plating)
• Conduct in-process and final inspections of critical features, including witness inspections (e.g., CMM program run)
• Compile final inspection sign-off sheets and inspection packages
• Verify inspection equipment is capable of detecting defects and ensure inspection methodology aligns with drawing intent
• Review and validate justification for parts not inspected at final inspection
• Audit and validate execution of inspection plans as applicable
• Document non-conformances using approved methods and submit non-conformance reports for customer disposition
• Verify hardware cleanliness and absence of internal or external foreign object debris
• Verify fasteners are properly installed; assure torque stripe is continuous and of correct color
• Assure products are free of gaps, mismatches, fairing, and of acceptable contour and waviness
• Ensure products are of good workmanship and meet specified standards (e.g., oil canning, riding conditions, loose fasteners, drill starts, scratches, dings, burrs, fastener edge distance)
• Review and validate First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation, including completeness, traceability, and compliance
• Ensure protection and preservation of inspected products for subsequent processing and shipment
• Verify applicable shipping documentation for legibility and completeness, including part number, serial number, configuration change letter, and shipping destination

Requirements

• At least 4+ years of experience as a Quality Inspector or CMM Operator
• Experience with documents such as FAI, PO, COC, and Process certification
• Extensive experience in dimensional inspection of precision tolerance parts
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with all inspection tools
• Ability to understand and interpret complex GD&T requirements and validate complex assemblies
• Experience with multiple primary and secondary part numbers (e.g., brackets, clips, doublers, splices, brackets, drip shields, etc.)
• ITAR compliant
• Willing to undergo a background check
• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder) to comply with ITAR

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified or previously certified in GD&T ASME Y-14.5
• 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, with at least 2 years as a Mechanical Inspector

Pay

Compensation ranges from $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience.

Schedule

Part-time, one day per week (flexible Monday through Friday).
