Quality Inspector, (CWI)

Quality Inspector will report directly to the site Quality Manager, with indirect oversight from the Sr. Quality Manager, ensuring inspections adhere to approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). This role is critical for maintaining accurate, legible documentation with traceability to field locations, minimizing reporting errors, and fostering positive relationships with owners, representatives, and site supervision to advance quality objectives.

Travel

• 100% travel required; position is based directly on the Project Site location.
• First project assignment is in Lubbock, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with general construction processes, including testing laboratory protocols, soils and concrete testing, asphalt paving, structural steel, mechanical, welding, and general construction observations.
• Assist the project team in ensuring Project QC documentation is complete and procedures are followed to mitigate project risk.
• Read and understand construction plans and specifications, identifying errors, contradictions, or redundancies for resolution.
• Conduct regularly scheduled QA/QC meetings, review logs of Deficiencies and Punch Lists, and maintain documentation and meeting minutes.
• Prepare reports on inspection activities.
• Schedule inspection activities in conjunction with local, state, governmental agencies, and third-party testing.
• Understand and identify differences between Project Specifications and Standard Codes; administer appropriate expectations of codes to protect MasTec Industrial interests.
• Consult with Director of Quality for issues beyond level of expertise.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
• Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
• Stay up-to-date on job-related certifications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a QA/QC role (education towards an engineering or technical degree may substitute for required work experience).
• Minimum of 5 years in a construction environment.
• Experience with B31.3, clean room procedures, and oxygen cleaning preferred.
• Training and practical knowledge of construction trades.
• Extreme proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated experience with construction management software platforms.
• Proven capabilities with Bluebeam Revu.
• Preferred experience with Smartsheet and InEight software.

Skills

• Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and document quality-related issues and activities.
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, and the public.
• Develop positive working relationships with owners, representatives, and site supervision to facilitate quality objectives.
• Work independently and productively, ensuring adequate and properly trained resources for the project.
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative.
• Apply critical thinking skills to establish effective corrective actions for causal factors of quality incidents.

Physical Demands

• Work up to a 12-hour shift performing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.

Schedule

• Full-Time position, typically 50 hours per week.
• Schedule subject to project requirements.

Pay

$48 - $55 per hour, commensurate with experience.
