Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of civil construction activities including earthworks, excavation, grading, concrete placement, foundations, paving, utilities, and structural works.
- Verify that work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and quality control plans.
- Perform material receiving inspections and verify compliance with project requirements.
- Witness field testing activities, including soil compaction, concrete testing, and other quality assurance tests.
- Ensure proper installation and workmanship of civil infrastructure components.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation.
- Review and verify Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality checklists.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports as required.
- Document non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and follow-up inspections.
- Ensure all quality records are properly filed and maintained for project closeout.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, local building codes, industry standards, and company requirements.
- Monitor contractor adherence to approved procedures and quality control requirements.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Cover inspections with construction supervisors, subcontractors, testing laboratories, and client representatives.
- Attend quality meetings and provide updates on inspection activities and quality issues.
- Work closely with engineering and construction teams to resolve quality-related concerns.
- Identify quality trends and recommend improvements to construction practices.
- Absorb and implement the project's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Assist in root-cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement on the project site.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent (GED)
- 3-5 years' Civil Project Site inspection experience / Oil and Gas Quality Inspection experience
- Required exposure to civil, electrical, mechanical, pipeline/oil/gas, industrial and welding activities
- Must be able to read/interpret engineered civil drawings
- Ability to independently perform work such as Piping system walkdown, structural walkdown, and Civil inspections
- The Quality Inspector must be a self-starter, be organized and have good interpersonal skills
- Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and technical procedures
- Write daily reports and document project activities
- Effectively collect and record field data to assure activities are conforming to corporate Quality Control procedures
- Ensures the effective implementation of the quality control program for assigned project tasks
- Ability to solve problems individually and in a team setting
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to walk the property and laydown yards
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds
