Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct dimensional and cosmetic inspections of purchased components, mechanical assemblies and installed assemblies.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections of purchased components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications in order to measure complex dimensions such as weld symbols, bend angles/locations, squareness, radius, thread sizes, and port depths.
  • Completing inspection sections of the Receiving process in ERP system
  • Write Nonconformance Reports (MRB Case) in ERP system and Power Business applications.
  • Create inspection plans for purchased components and mechanical assemblies
  • Frequent verification that control plans are adequate and effective in all phases of production.
  • Aid manufacturing operations to resolve quality issues quickly and permanently as they arise.
  • Interface with suppliers on quality issues.
  • Cookordination containment and improvement actions to resolve issues in a timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to use basic inspection tools such as: height gage, weld gage, radius gage, thread gages, drop indicator, pi tape, calipers and micrometers
  • Utilizing basic inspection techniques for Geometric Design and Tolerancing call outs
  • Support in the facilities general tool calibration program
  • Intermediate knowledge/use of an ERP system
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, & Power Point)
  • Ability to understand complex situations, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to write Quality task related work instructions
  • Self-motivated; able to work with minimal direction
  • Anticipates needs and problems while creating solutions

Credentials And Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as inspector (or greater role) in an ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality manufacturing environment required.
  • Proficiency in the use of basic inspection tools is required
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products required
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical Engineering drawings is required
  • Ability to use ERP systems is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility studies is preferred
  • Basic understanding of automotive repair is preferred
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles is preferred
