Quality Inspector B

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is seeking a Quality Inspector B to join our Quality Team in Columbus, MS. The role ensures compliance with Airbus Helicopters Inc. policies and FAA regulations, and performs detailed inspections of aircraft components.

Responsibilities

• Assure high quality standards through approving incoming/shipping materials through established incoming processes while recording quality inspection results.
• Work with inspection tools, aids and devices to determine tolerances and specification limits.
• Perform detailed inspections of aircraft components, composite materials, blades, dynamic components, paint, and Backshop activities to ensure specifications are met and identify non-conformities.

Requirements

• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent, 3 years as a Technician in aviation maintenance/manufacturing or equivalent related experience.
• Preferred: Associates Degree in Aviation or related industry, 2 years quality experience in aviation related field.
• Required: Meet the requirements of 14CFR Part 65 and be able to obtain a repairman certificate within 3 months of employment or hold a valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant License.
• Required: FCC 2nd Class License.
• Travel Required: 5% Domestic and International.

• Knowledge: Familiarity with inspection tools, aids, and devices used in determining tolerances and specification limits.
• Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical and regulatory documentation, high degree of professionalism, judgment, and integrity.
• Demonstrated Capabilities: Experience in detailed inspections, ability to work in multiple areas, experience with Airbus products/programs, knowledge of AS9100 Quality Standards.

• Vision: Able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
• Hearing: Able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
• Daily Speaking: Able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information, and participate in communications.
• Daily Equipment Operation: Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools.
• Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Daily Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Daily Pushing / Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
• Daily Sitting: Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
• Several times a week: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
• Daily Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
• Daily Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice. 5% or less yearly Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents).
• Personal Protective Equipment: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
