Quality Inspector

Core Activities

• Perform first/last hit inspection.
• Conduct 100% visual inspection of all material at the Inspection Stand.
• Report findings during inspection.
• File charts and histograms for Gamma Reports.
• Aid Piler Operators between coils.
• Weekly cleaning of all gauges and fixtures.
• Ensure proper function of measurement equipment.
• Communicate quality issues to management and supervisors.
• Complete projects as assigned.

Additional Functions

• Aid in disposition of material (hold for rework, claim, hold for re-inspection).
• Institute rework process.
• Modify or create BQIR’S and RSP’S.
• Create visual aids for the plant.
• Complete all daily checklists.
• Collect data for SPC.
• Create quality alerts and training.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Adhere to general office procedures.
• Operate office equipment.
• Use/operate appropriate measurement equipment.
• Interface and communicate with others.
• Work a flexible schedule.
• Possess knowledge of steel making and identification.
• Have strong mathematical skills.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Read a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer.

Experience And Education

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Steel inspection background.
• Mechanical or manufacturing background.
• Statistical Process Control (SPC) background.
