About the role

A Quality Inspector ensures products or services meet established quality standards and specifications. They inspect, test, and audit equipment, document findings, and collaborate with production teams to address quality issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual, mechanical, and electrical inspections and tests
  • Energize Powell electrical products and other equipment
  • Investigate equipment failures and conduct root cause analysis
  • Complete and maintain test documentation
  • Maintain and operate test equipment
  • Use equipment like multi meters, clamp-on meters, and Hi-Pot to perform tests
  • Interact with shop, engineering, sales, shipping, fabrication, PCR, and switchgear departments to resolve quality issues
  • Engage with other Powell subsidiaries, suppliers, and customers
  • Record discrepancies, non-conformities, and material shortages
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Promote a safety culture and attend safety meetings
  • Ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying risks
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Learn and understand basic electrical principles and mechanical experience

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read prints and understand specifications
  • Intermediate experience with industry codes and standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in quality inspection for electrical or electronic equipment
  • Intermediate experience with industry codes and standards

Physical Requirements

  • Maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falls
  • Bend, stand, walk, crouch, ascend/descend stairs, climb stairs frequently
  • Use hand tools and power tools for long periods
  • Use upper extremities to apply force up to 50lbs

Working Conditions

  • Safety-sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Occasional outside activities
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment
  • Office environment with occasional desk and computer work
  • Requires ability to work from ladders and scaffolding
