This position is located in Huntsville, AL. Relocation assistance is not available. An active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required at the time of application, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval. Travel is required, up to 10% of the time.

This role reports to a Supervisor, Inspection and works under general supervision. Work is performed within standardized Company and industry policies, practices, and procedures. The position involves decision-making responsibilities regarding the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed, as well as determining the measuring equipment used. The incumbent has the authority to temporarily halt work that would affect the reactor plant. Errors could critically impact the Company's competitive position in the nuclear field.

Responsibilities

• Performs required inspections and nondestructive tests (UT, MT, PT, visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical, or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with quality requirements for Naval reactor plants and associated systems, supporting ship construction, overhaul, refueling, and repair contracts.
• Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to reactor plant operations. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of work in progress.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of additional education and/or related experience.
• Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001.
• Background in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• IPC J-STD-001, 610/620 training or experience.
• Experience programming and operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine.
• Experience creating inspection reports.
• Experience writing non-conformance tags.

Pay

Primary level salary range: $58,300.00 - $97,100.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Schedule

This position follows a 9/80A work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
