Quality Improvement Specialist - Patient Safety and Quality

About the role

The Quality Improvement Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing quality and patient safety at Hackensack Meridian Health. This position collaborates with various HMH initiatives, clinical transformation services, and quality councils to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and lead teams focused on quality and safety initiatives.
• Engage and develop team members in quality and safety initiatives.
• Identify and plan quality improvement projects.
• Implement data-driven strategies to ensure team success.
• Utilize the Quality Scorecard to drive improvements.
• Provide expert knowledge and leadership in patient safety and quality initiatives.
• Strategize with personnel at all levels to develop and coordinate patient safety programs.
• Provide coaching and support for quality and safety strategies.
• Create and maintain progress reports.
• Analyze and investigate event reports.
• Ensure transparency and reinforce high reliability.
• Facilitate RCA-2 processes as needed.
• Promote shared learning and safety culture.
• Present findings at local, national, and international forums.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
• Perform effective trend analysis and benchmarking.
• Coordinate and mentor team members in quality projects.
• Attend and participate in root cause analysis meetings.
• Direct patient and team member safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare or health science.
• 5 years of experience in health care.
• Proficiency in computer applications and software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• NPSF CPPS certification within one year of hire.
• Master's degree and/or professional degree and certification preferred.
• Performance improvement experience preferred.
• Experience in statistics or clinical research preferred.
• Understanding of The Joint Commission and regulatory standards preferred.
• Certified Professional in Patient Safety preferred.
