About the role
The Quality Improvement Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing quality and patient safety at Hackensack Meridian Health. This position collaborates with various HMH initiatives, clinical transformation services, and quality councils to drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and lead teams focused on quality and safety initiatives.
- Engage and develop team members in quality and safety initiatives.
- Identify and plan quality improvement projects.
- Implement data-driven strategies to ensure team success.
- Utilize the Quality Scorecard to drive improvements.
- Provide expert knowledge and leadership in patient safety and quality initiatives.
- Strategize with personnel at all levels to develop and coordinate patient safety programs.
- Provide coaching and support for quality and safety strategies.
- Create and maintain progress reports.
- Analyze and investigate event reports.
- Ensure transparency and reinforce high reliability.
- Facilitate RCA-2 processes as needed.
- Promote shared learning and safety culture.
- Present findings at local, national, and international forums.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform effective trend analysis and benchmarking.
- Coordinate and mentor team members in quality projects.
- Attend and participate in root cause analysis meetings.
- Direct patient and team member safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare or health science.
- 5 years of experience in health care.
- Proficiency in computer applications and software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- NPSF CPPS certification within one year of hire.
- Master's degree and/or professional degree and certification preferred.
- Performance improvement experience preferred.
- Experience in statistics or clinical research preferred.
- Understanding of The Joint Commission and regulatory standards preferred.
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety preferred.
