About This Role
Performs Quality Engineering assignments requiring independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard Quality techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment and ingenuity in making adaptations and modifications. The Quality Engineer II supports product design activities, quality planning, production activities, data analysis, development of metrics, root cause and corrective action, and process and product improvement.
Responsibilities
- Reviews customer contracts on simple to moderately complex projects; responsible for requirements analysis, identification, and definition.
- Performs quality planning activities including development of Quality Plan, Quality Assurance Directives, and Inspection Plan documents as required by the assigned project(s).
- Interfaces with Supplier Development and Sourcing Engineering to provide guidance and support for supplier issues.
- Participates in product development and design document reviews targeting design for manufacturability.
- Interfaces with internal organizations and systems in performance of assigned Quality Engineering functions.
- Participates in process improvement activities through monitoring, root cause investigations, auditing, and failure analysis.
- Participates in Program Management activities appropriate to the assigned project(s).
- Participates in Contract Data Requirements List development, review, and delivery to the customer as required by the assigned project(s).
- Assists in developing fabrication/build processes and standards.
- Performs Material Review Board (MRB) disposition and tracking activities.
- Uses knowledge of inspection tools and techniques to define inspection requirements.
- Performs QA estimating for simple to moderately complex projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical degree with 2-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in an AS9100 environment.
- Fluent knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Effective ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks.
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and applications.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to apply logical, scientific, or analytical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- An inquiring mind and passion for learning.
- Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
- Strong foundational knowledge and experience with Quality Engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with Oracle (ERP)/Solumina (MES).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
