Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex analyses of raw materials, in-process materials, environmental samples, final products, and stability samples.
- Conduct laboratory and field sampling, including visual, dimensional, mechanical, and layout inspections.
- Interpret and evaluate test results against defined specifications and control limits; recommend data disposition for product release.
- Analyze and report on quality trends, nonconformances, root causes, and production quality metrics.
- Inspect returned products, identify defects, document findings, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
- Evaluate defects and determine material disposition (Sort, Hold, Use-As-Is, Rework) as part of Material Review Board (MRB) activity.
- Participate in or lead the execution of FAI, FAIR, and PPAP processes.
- Aid in FMEA development and review part layouts for compliance.
- Document Control & Quality Records
- Complete and maintain documentation for testing procedures, including data capture forms, logbooks, and inventory forms.
- Develop and update inspection criteria, work instructions, and product specifications.
- Absorb and contribute to the development and revision of quality standards and records.
- Maintain and update AS9100 documentation via the document control system.
- Quality Standards & Compliance
- Ensure all processes meet customer requirements and internal quality standards.
- Train staff on quality procedures, disposition methods, and inspection techniques.
- Monitor and maintain quality control systems to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of AS9100 and Nadcap systems.
- Lead or assist with corrective action plans for both internal issues and customer complaints.
- Customer Satisfaction & Support
- Interpret engineering drawings to determine critical customer requirements and proper inspection methods.
- Investigate customer complaints related to quality; develop and implement corrective solutions and follow-ups.
- Communicate quality-related information across departments, with customers, vendors, and contractors.
- Support or lead PPAP activities for new product launches, including development of Control Plans, FMEA, Process Capability Studies, and GR&R.
- Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Contribute to the design and implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) across departments.
- Collaborate with teams to document manufacturing procedures in alignment with AS9100 standards.
- Identify critical process control points and define appropriate sampling and testing methods.
- Develop and maintain Control Plans and FMEA documents throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
- Hands-on experience with dimensional measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height/radius gauges, surface plate).
- Proficiency with CMMs (e.g., Romer Arm, Bridge CMMs using PC-DMIS or PolyWorks) and optical comparators.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 standards is highly desirable.
- Experience in the investment casting industry is a strong plus.
