Quality Engineer
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed analysis of customer returned parts and use the findings to drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) improvements.
- Prevent internal recurring failures and reduce risks by conducting thorough root cause analysis to identify and address existing issues.
- Validate customer return material authorizations (RMAs) and define further actions to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Supervise a team of six in the final inspection department, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and training as needed.
- Represent the quality assurance function on the material review board (MRB) for internal rejections and ensure appropriate disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Prepare, review, and approve first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements for aerospace products.
- Support and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with applicable quality standards and customer requirements.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and engineering, to implement effective corrective actions and process improvements.
- Monitor quality metrics and trends, and recommend actions to enhance overall product reliability and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in an aerospace or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of AS9102 requirements and practical experience with first article inspections (FAI).
- Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Hands-on experience with customer returned material analysis and validation of RMAs.
- Experience participating in or supporting material review board (MRB) activities for internal rejections.
- Participation in or supporting quality audits within a manufacturing or aerospace setting.
- Ability to supervise and guide a final inspection team, including coaching and on-the-job training.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, data-driven approach.
- Clear and effective communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and presenting findings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working over a connector manufacturing line or similar product line.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality systems and industry-specific documentation requirements.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies within a manufacturing environment.
- Able to document and report on quality issues, corrective actions, and inspection results in a clear and organized manner.
Work Environment
This role operates within an aerospace manufacturing and inspection environment, with a strong focus on quality assurance and compliance. You will work closely with final inspection, manufacturing, engineering, and material review teams, frequently engaging with customer return analysis and first article inspections under AS9102 standards. The position involves hands-on work with components on a connector line, participation in MRB activities, and involvement in audits and process improvement initiatives. The environment emphasizes structured processes, detailed documentation, and collaboration across departments to maintain high product quality and reliability.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale, CA.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $36.06/hr.
