About the role

We're seeking a Quality Engineer to join a team where quality is a key driver of product performance, customer satisfaction, and mission success. The role involves direct influence on high-visibility aerospace and defense programs, working alongside engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams to solve complex quality challenges and support production success.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, drive improvements, and reduce defects using SPC and other quality tools.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) that deliver long-term results.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program teams to solve complex quality challenges and support production success.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure compliance and product excellence.
  • Present key quality metrics, findings, and recommendations to manufacturing and leadership teams.
  • Support new product introduction, process improvements, and ongoing manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate directly with production personnel to proactively address quality concerns and improve processes.
  • Support APQP, PPAP, audit activities, and customer quality initiatives.
  • Participate in customer-facing discussions and contribute to building strong client relationships.
  • Mentor technicians and help foster a culture of quality throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience within aerospace, defense, medical device, automotive, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with root cause analysis, SPC, CAPA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience utilizing Lean and Six Sigma principles to drive measurable results.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and present recommendations confidently.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with composite or advanced materials manufacturing.
  • APQP and PPAP experience.
  • Internal or external audit experience.
  • Exposure to aerospace or defense industry quality systems and compliance standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
