Quality Engineer 1 (Aerospace)

Responsibilities

• Assess quality performance (or cost-of-quality) using statistical and analytical methods.
• Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, reliability, and accuracy of products, processes, and production equipment.
• Develop and establish quality systems and procedures, inspection plans, quality performance trends, statistical plans, cost estimates, and technical quality plans for proposals.
• Ensure project and/or process control documentation complies with requirements and/or contract.
• Assess the cost of, and determine responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards by performing statistical analyses.
• Provide input on quality to product development teams.
• Identify quality performance, trends, and corrective actions by coordinating with customers and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance to specified quality requirements by performing in-house and supplier audits and surveys; develop and initiate programs to improve supplier performance.
• Prepare reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing, and summarizing data; make recommendations.
• Analyze proposed changes in methods and materials; compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
• Participate in failure analysis and corrective action investigations.
• Refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.
• Represent the company by interfacing with customers and assisting with internal and external audits; may act as the main contact in audits.
• Develop and coordinate corrective action procedures and plans.
• Communicate and educate the Value Stream Team on specialized quality functions, such as Production Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Process (APQP).
• Make quality-related customer and vendor visits and contacts as required.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, publications, industry networks, and professional associations (e.g., American Society for Quality).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Two or more years of related experience with demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
• American Society for Quality certification desired.
• Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles, and concepts, as well as general business operations.
• Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions.
• Proficiency in standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.
• Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects.

Pay

Pay Range: $70,890 to $117,300 annually. Participation in Annual Incentive Program.
