Quality Engineer 1
Responsibilities
- Analyze quality trends and recommend improvements to help reduce Cost of Quality and improve yield.
- Lead or participate on continuous improvement or corrective action teams as assigned.
- Determine root cause of quality problems and implement effective corrective action.
- Participate on cross-functional teams to qualify and approve new processes, capital equipment and materials.
- Prepare detailed quality plans for small-scale projects to reduce risk of producing non-conformances.
- Provide or coordinate required project quality related deliverables, such as, PPAP’s, D/PFMEA, capability studies, statistical analysis, inspection plans, quality records, MSA, and workmanship standards.
- Complete or assist with quality actions stemming from Design Reviews, DFMEA’s and PFMEA’s.
- Provide training and mentoring to promote proper use and understanding of quality tools.
- Recommend design, manufacturing or control changes to increase product performance, quality or reliability.
- Participate on Material Review Board.
- Cook up or coordinate inspections or tests if necessary to determine disposition.
- Work with suppliers on PPAP’s for new suppliers, new parts and new tools.
- Work with suppliers on corrective actions for non-conforming parts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- 3 years experience as a Technician or Engineer in a Manufacturing environment
- Proficient in technical skills, such as, statistical analysis, FMEA, SPC and other common quality tools
- Experience with ERP and QMS software (JDE and EtQ preferred)
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient utilization of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, or Technician
- 6 Sigma or other Lean Manufacturing Certification
- ISO9000 experience
