Quality Data Science Co-op- Spring 2027

About the role

As a Co-op in the MD Quality and Compliance (Q&C) Digital Solutions organization at Johnson & Johnson, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to implement customer-centric solutions for data analytics and process improvements. You will perform software development and validation to support medical device quality system digital solutions, apply software development and lifecycle management techniques, and promote digital culture and capabilities across J&J Medical Devices. This role offers opportunities to strengthen communication and leadership skills while working with a diverse team of data scientists, analytics app developers, quality engineers, and quality management to discuss risks and opportunities for projects.

You will be assigned to a team supporting Ethicon, Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio, and report directly to the MD Q&C Digital Solutions Advanced Analytics Manager. You may also participate in on-campus activities such as learning committees, volunteer events, and meet-and-greet luncheons with full-time associates.

Responsibilities

• Use state-of-the-art tools and training courses offered at J&J.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to implement data analytics and process improvement solutions.
• Perform software development and validation to support medical device quality system digital solutions.
• Learn and apply software development and lifecycle management techniques.
• Promote digital culture and capabilities across J&J Medical Devices.
• Strengthen communication and leadership skills.
• Work with a diverse team including data scientists, analytics app developers, quality engineers, and quality management.
• Meet with Quality management to discuss risks and opportunities for respective projects.
• Participate in and/or lead on-campus activities such as learning committees, volunteer events, and meet-and-greet luncheons with full-time associates.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, or a related field.
• In your second year or above in school at the beginning of the co-op term in January 2027, with a graduation date after April 2027.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Authorized to work in the United States during the full duration of the co-op (01/2027 – 04/2027).
• Familiarity with basic statistics concepts/terminology (e.g., budget management from a club or any experience working with numbers).
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as on a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred

• Demonstrated leadership or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities.
• Previous quality-related experiences.
• Knowledge of FDA or regulatory guidance.
• Medical-related experience (e.g., previous co-op at a medical device company, volunteering at a hospital).
• Programming (e.g., R, Python) and data analytics experience.

Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long-term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
