Quality Control Technician

About the role

Martin Marietta is hiring a Quality Control Technician to sample and test aggregate materials at production sites in the Mankato and New Ulm areas. Previous experience is preferred but training will be provided to the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and industrial equipment to obtain material samples.
• Record and maintain test results on Excel spreadsheets and standardized forms.
• Report and communicate test results internally (to Plant Managers) and externally (to DOT and customers).
• Clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
• Inspect stockpiles for proper construction.
• Assist in investigating and resolving customer technical problems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, with a technical degree preferred.
• State certification for aggregate field and laboratory testing in Minnesota preferred but not required.
• Experience in quality control in an aggregate or construction environment preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and computer skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Proactive in safety.

Skills

• Ability to work in a surface mine setting.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

Benefits

The hiring range for this position is $23.50 - $28.00 per hour, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience.
