About the role

As a Quality Control Technician, you will be responsible for sampling aggregates, ready-mix concrete, and concrete masonry products to ensure they meet industry specifications or project-specific testing parameters. You must be willing to learn to batch ready-mix concrete, operate loaders and forklifts, and perform production support and labor duties at various facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure ethical behavior and adherence to safety standards as required by company and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain predictable and reliable attendance; flexibility with last-minute schedule, location, or shift changes, including overtime and occasional night work.
  • Demonstrate a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and the public.
  • Be self-motivated with a desire to learn and obtain industry certifications as needed.
  • Develop a clear understanding of or willingness to learn concrete production, aggregate production, and concrete masonry products testing procedures.
  • Learn to operate, maintain, and support ready-mix production facilities, including forklifts and loaders.
  • Learn basics of building supply operations and provide support as needed.
  • Coordinate daily/weekly scheduling with management, plant personnel, and external customers (e.g., project contractors or inspectors) to obtain mix design criteria and samples.
  • Partner with quality control staff to ensure specifications are met and production schedules are followed.
  • Prepare and submit proper documentation to quality control personnel on a timely basis.
  • Evaluate test results and address problems as they arise.
  • Assist with other positions to ensure job completion.
  • Adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in functional condition.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Pass a drug test and background check.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the concrete industry preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Obtain industry certifications as required for the position.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate a ¾ ton pickup truck with a 20’ trailer.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments.
