About the role

The Quality Control Supervisor position at Weyerhaeuser's Columbia Falls MDF facility drives quality, production, and safety goals through strong leadership and technical capabilities. The role plays a critical part in the business success of MDF, leading a team responsible for the continuous monitoring of product quality, process optimization, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure products meet specific properties while maximizing production and meeting customer expectations
  • Lead team in safe work practices and enforce job and safety rules
  • Improve and maintain department performance according to set objectives and established goals
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends in board quality
  • Cookorate and maintain effective relationships within the team, production, and maintenance teams
  • Support, coach, and provide timely feedback and direction to the quality control team
  • Actively participate in assigning work and evaluating job performance
  • Support cross-training initiatives to increase talent depth on the team
  • Translate Weyerhaeuser's vision into clear goals, objectives, and accountabilities
  • Motivate others by engaging them in problem-solving and decision-making

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Wood Products, Engineering, or other related field preferred
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
  • MDF or Engineered Wood Product manufacturing experience a plus
  • Commitment to actively promoting and exhibiting a caring safety culture
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development, and instilling a continuous improvement mindset
  • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals in a complex and fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Supportive of quality, environmental, and safety management systems and policies
  • Strong understanding of Total Quality Principles with focus on the customer, including QC techniques and tools
  • Able to independently analyze data and recommend alternative courses of action
  • Able to organize and plan priorities
  • Able to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Able to make decisions and weigh outcomes
  • Hold team members accountable for expectations and department goals
  • Able to take direction and willing to take on new tasks/projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in all Microsoft program suite applications
  • Able to accept and respond to after-hour calls and work weekends/holidays as needed

Qualifications

Pay

This role is eligible for an annual salary range of $82,000 - $123,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Schedule

Full-time position with a Day (1st) shift schedule.
