Quality Control Specialist - Utility Construction

About the role

This role is responsible for delivering quality control services to ensure high standards are maintained across all job sites. This involves implementing and coordinating the Quality Control Plan, conducting thorough job site inspections, and resolving quality issues through document reviews and on-site evaluations. The position provides training, coaching, and real-time feedback to field teams, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and company values while supporting efficient and effective project execution.

Responsibilities

• Quality Control & Technical Inspection
  • Conduct quality inspections for substation and transmission line components using various precision tools and equipment.
  • Review construction specifications and blueprints to prepare for inspections and ensure field work matches design.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and General Foremen to complete daily tasks and maintain project momentum.
  • Analyze upcoming project schedules to prepare for inspection needs during both the pre-construction and active phases.
• Issue Identification
  • Proactively identify potential quality risks through a detailed review of construction documents and site conditions.
• Safety & Hazard Recognition
  • Uphold safety as the company’s most important goal and support the mission of achieving zero accidents.
  • Pre-plan and identify specific methods to eliminate hazards daily based on the work task at hand.
  • Develop the skill to observe the habits of others and professionally bring hazards to their attention.
  • Promote communication between field and office regarding safety concerns, improvements, and PPE needs.
  • Obtain and maintain all safety certifications as expected by company leadership.
• Communication & Collaboration
  • Develop high-trust relationships with project leadership and field personnel through open, honest dialogue.
  • Demonstrate excellent professionalism and service when interacting with clients and utility owners.

Requirements

• Education/Licensure: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or relevant work experience.
• Experience Level: This is an entry-level position. While technical experience in engineering or construction is a plus, it is not necessary.

• Mobility: Willing and able to drive extended distances on a consistent basis to fulfill job responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods in outdoor elements, often in noisy and rugged construction environments.

Travel

Regular travel to various work sites is essential.
