Construction Quality Control Specialist

Responsibilities

• Serving as the on-site lead for project QC.
• Interfacing with project managers, technical staff, clients, subcontractors, and other field personnel.
• Reviewing specifications, drawings, project deliverables, and ongoing construction activities to assure compliance with appropriate plans.
• Confirming all materials and equipment have been tested and approved for use per applicable specifications.
• Performing daily QC checks, tests, and compliance activities.
• Identifying, communicating, and documenting QC deficiencies, as well as ensuring they are corrected in a timely manner.
• Organizing and maintaining project records to ensure all required QC activities are properly documented.

Requirements

• The ability to travel at least 70% of the time to support projects ranging in duration from approximately 1 month to 1 year.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Construction Quality Control Manager for a USACE project.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management working in close proximity to heavy equipment and excavation activities at large construction or remediation sites.
• Exceptional communication skills (written and oral).
• Ability to prepare and maintain project documentation, including daily QC reports, material/equipment inspections, submittal registers, and QC deficiency reports.
• Ability to generate meeting agendas and lead internal and client-facing meetings.
• Experience inspecting, testing, and documenting large scale soil excavation, backfill, and restoration activities.
• Ability to work successfully within a team environment.
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Qualifications

• Current certifications including: 40-hour HAZWOPER, 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher, OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety, USACE CQM-C, and first aid/CPR/AED.
• Experience with the USACE Resident Management System (RMS) or QCS.
• Bachelor of Science degree from a 4-year college or university in engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience working on project sites contaminated with chlorinated solvents, heavy metals, and PFAS.
• Experience generating technical deliverables for project work (planning documents, progress reports, and completion reports).

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Ability to lift/move/relocate items up to 50 lbs.
• Prolonged sitting up to 70% of the time; Prolonged standing up to 70% of the time.
• Walking long distances; Walking over uneven or mountainous terrain.
• Repetitive hand motions (typing/tool use/etc.).
• Ability to see details at close range; Ability to see details at a distance; Ability to interpret and analyze visual data (maps/graphs/warning indicators/etc.).
• Driving a company or personal vehicle.
• Climbing ladders or stairs.
• Complex problem solving and decision making.
• Reading and interpreting technical documents or regulations.
• Writing reports/proposals/or technical documentation.
• Leading a team or coordinating multiple priorities.
• Communicating effectively with clients/team members/stakeholders.
• Managing competing deadlines and shifting priorities.
• Work Environment Requirements:
• Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat/cold/rain/snow/etc.).
• May work in environments with loud noises/dust/or hazardous materials.
• Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Remote work environment.
• Potential for longer days up to 12 hours in duration.

Details

• Work Schedule: Primarily field oriented, ranging from 8-12 hours daily. Projects typically occur 5 to 6 days per week. Rotations for work-life balance approximately every 4 weeks for a duration of 1 week off.
• Office Type: Project site, field work. Minimal office work.
• Travel: A minimum of 70% of each month is onsite.
• Office work is minimal.

• Annual Salary Range: $83,895.00 - $125,843.00.
