Quality Control/Specialist II - Midnights (Weekend Shift Fr/Sat/Sun- 6p-6a)

By following established procedures and under moderate supervision, this role is responsible for inspecting raw materials, goods in process, and finished goods to ensure technical specifications are met. Identifies defects by conducting simple tests and analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Performs visual and measurement inspection tests under minimal supervision, including calculating distances, angles, radius tapers, thread, and gear data using complex measuring equipment (e.g., Zeiss or Mitutoyo Coordinate Measuring Machines, Smartscope, or RAM).
  • Utilizes precision measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, comparators, master gauge blocks, indicators, surface gauges, surface plates, sine bars) to accept or reject parts, ensuring product sent to customers meets expectations and quality standards.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, confirming re-work, communicating required adjustments to appropriate personnel, and ensuring quality product is released to the customer.
  • Reads and deciphers complex technical drawings, incorporating tight tolerances into the part inspection process.
  • Inputs and analyzes statistical data using Infinity or other SPC software, documents data obtained during all quality inspection processes, and examines statistical data to determine and maintain quality and product reliability.
  • Operates inspection equipment, troubleshoots and resolves issues affecting product quality, and reports issues to leadership as needed.
  • Acts as the “go-to” person for quality control inspection procedures, willingly accepts responsibility for training other employees, and ensures inspection methods are consistent and performed in adherence to quality standards and processes.
  • Conducts training classes relating to inspection tools/equipment, processes, GD&T, and technical drawings.
  • Performs analytical tests using instrumentation/equipment and performs measurement calculations as needed.
  • Directs other department inspectors at the request of the team lead or supervisor in the leader’s absence.
  • Performs internal audits in accordance with company and customer quality control standards.
  • Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years of applicable product inspection experience.

Skills & Abilities

  • Exhibits strong interpersonal and organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and possesses intermediate math skills.
  • Exhibits strong problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Works effectively with a diverse group of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Has attained qualified status on the use of multiple precision inspection equipment tools in assigned areas under limited supervision, such as micrometers, calipers, microscopes, federal gauges, Styre, Talyrond 73, FPI, video scopes, and lighting equipment.
  • Performs detail-oriented tasks using basic language and proficient math skills.

Schedule

  • Weekend Shift Nights: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (12-hour shifts).

Pay

Target hiring range: USD 20.57 – USD 27.16 per hour. Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills, and education.
