Quality Control Specialist

Martin Marietta is seeking a QC Technician to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated.

About the role

This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently sampling and performing routine laboratory testing of aggregate material under the supervision of the Site Manager or other designated personnel. The QC Technician will ensure that all products are consistent with prescribed standards and specifications. This position requires travel from the quarry to other locations.

Hours are 6 am - 4 pm including weekends and overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Use prescribed standards to determine chemical and/or physical characteristics for quality control purposes and to determine conformity to specifications
• Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instrumentation such as agitators, scales, ovens, and other lab equipment as required
• Work around industrial equipment and machinery to obtain material samples from production facilities such as conveyors, stockpiles, rail cars, and/or customer sites
• Report and communicate test results internally and externally (DOT and other customers as required)
• Clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Inspect stockpiles for proper construction and haul units for cleanliness
• Maintain test data files and record test results in AggQC and/or standardized forms
• Investigate and resolve customer technical problems under the guidance of designated personnel as needed
• Aid in the training of co-workers as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
• Two (2) years' experience in quality control in an aggregate or construction environment (preferred)
• Technical degree (preferred)
• State certified for aggregate field and laboratory testing (preferred)
