Quality Control Slitting Operator - MANUFACTURING - 2nd Shift

About the role

Efficiently perform set-up, running, and monitoring of Slitting machines. Assist in training and supervising new operator trainees. Ensure machines are running on their shifts, producing quality products efficiently. Assist in packaging and moving materials.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently perform set-up, running, monitoring, and troubleshooting of all slitting machines.
• Exercise strong working knowledge of defects associated with Finished Goods materials and make required judgments on film quality and usability.
• Prepare slitting documents, core-tags, box labels, quality documents, and training documents without immediate supervision.
• Assist in packaging materials, including making boxes, packaging material, stacking packaged material on pallets, and moving pallets of completed film.
• Assist in training and supervision of less experienced operators.
• Occasionally perform lead operator responsibilities when the lead operator is unavailable.
• Properly inform the relieving shift and department superiors about machine and production status, material processes, department needs, priorities, and observed problems.
• Strictly follow standard operating procedures, set-up specifications, supervisor’s instructions, safety regulations, and housekeeping policies.
• Provide regular suggestions and feedback to Slitting supervisors concerning department problems, process improvements, machine operation, and safety hazards.
• Ensure all phases of the Slitting operation are performed efficiently.
• Inform Lead Operator of any parts or supplies needed and follow up on requests.
• Perform finished pallet sign-off and rework activity when directed.
• Suggest updates to procedures and policies regularly.
• Communicate with lead, plant personnel, and supervisors regarding production issues.
• Monitor self-productivity and report limitations to the lead or department supervisor.
• Participate in continuous improvement and safety observations.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of math related to company processes and procedures.
• Strong mechanical ability, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail in slitting procedures.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills as they relate to slitting procedures and company processes.
• Beginning knowledge of other department procedures related to film construction, winding techniques, shipping procedures, and metallizing process.
• Working knowledge of relevant customers and suppliers.
• High school graduate. One or two years of college or four-year military service preferred.

Pay

The local pay range for this position is $18.00 to $28.00 per hour, varying based on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for periodic bonus payments/an annual bonus, with a targeted bonus amount up to 10% of the hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures. The total annual target cash range (hourly pay rate plus bonus, annualized) is $41,100 to $64,000.
