Quality Control Inspector - Lead

About the Role

The Quality Control Inspector - Lead is responsible for all quality control activities of the production facility in Oldsmar. This role involves monitoring manufacturing and production processes to ensure products meet requirements and specifications. The lead ensures all quality control documentation is up-to-date and maintained, evaluates and improves the existing quality management system, and oversees calibration of tools and gauges according to ISO9001.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the quality of all products by performing quality control activities, implementing quality standards, and providing feedback to the production team.
• Perform part inspections to check for abnormalities, out-of-specification conditions, and other non-conformities.
• Oversee quarantine of parts and materials when necessary.
• Develop and maintain quality control documents, including procedures, inspection plans, non-conformance reports, corrective action requests, and scrap reports.
• Ensure all products are processed through Quality Control in a timely and efficient manner.
• Move parts and materials safely using manual methods, cranes, lifting devices, and forklifts.
• Use appropriate PPE at all times, including safety glasses and safety shoes.

Requirements

• At least a high school diploma; a college/university degree in a technical or administrative field is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality assurance role in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and understand part prints and use common inspection tools and gauges (e.g., mics, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, bore gauges).
• Experience with ISO9001 is preferred.
• Strong communication skills to exchange information with team members and other departments.
• Good analytical skills to determine probable causes of product defects and appropriate corrective actions.
• Ability to uphold the integrity of the quality system under pressure and time constraints.
• Strong organizational skills, particularly in documentation, record-keeping, and prioritizing activities.
• Computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel; SAP knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to operate a forklift or be willing to learn.
• Willingness to work extended hours when required.

Physical and Mental Qualifications

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, ascend/descend stairs, and routinely lift up to 30 lbs.
• Good mobility, visual acuity, hearing, coordination, and manual dexterity.
