Key Responsibilities
- Perform independent inspections, validations, and verifications of hardware to ensure compliance with drawings and contractual requirements.
- Perform intermediate-level inspections utilizing surface plate techniques and computer-aided inspection (CAI) equipment USING CMM machine and Verisurf software at the operator level.
- Perform intermediate-level inspections utilizing different CAI equipment like different FARO/Romer arms, laser trackers, and video dimensioning systems - at the operator level.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles including Angularity, Profile, Runout, Symmetry, and True Position.
- Use basic algebra and trigonometry to calculate true positions and perform dimensional analysis
- Interpret and communicate inspection results and issues to customers, engineers, and management
- Operate and interpret programs/models for CAI equipment as needed
- Perform casting and forging layouts as required
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior inspectors
- Conduct source inspections and travel in support of Marvin Engineering Company (MEC) quality needs
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a dimensional inspector
- Minimum 3 years of direct, hands-on experience operating surface plates and Computer-Aided Inspection (CAI) equipment such as CMMs (e.g., Verisurf) at the operator level.
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their practical application
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in basic algebra and trigonometry
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Comfortable working in a diverse team environment
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing)
Preferred Qualifications
- A college degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Certifications in GD&T, Quality Inspection, or relevant ASQ areas.
- Experience interpreting and using CAI programs and 3D models.
- Familiarity with advanced CAI systems such as Laser Trackers or Video Dimensioning tools.
- Experience performing casting and forging layouts
- Experience conducting source inspections
- Prior experience mentoring or training junior inspectors
