About the role
The Quality Inspector ensures the first-time delivery of quality products throughout the operation and to customers, both internally and externally. This role involves testing and inspecting parts at various stages of the process and ensuring compliance with ISO/IATF16949 standards.
Responsibilities
- Gather sample pieces to conduct inspections and/or tests to verify product conformance, working with set-ups (first piece inspection), parts in-process (line inspection), finished product (final inspection), subcontracted parts, or tooling.
- Report nonconformance with assistance, determine dispositions, and process deviations.
- Provide input into the resolution of problems.
- Provide gage support for manufacturing personnel, including supplying, setting-up, checking, calibrating gauges, and conducting gauge studies.
- Perform and/or support Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities.
- Assist in interpreting specifications, measurement methods, containment procedures, and monitoring of new or difficult parts.
- Initiate, complete, or verify records documenting quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, IATF16949, ISO 14001 standards, and EH&S requirements.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Ability to use and understand various precision measuring tools.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Knowledge of quality processes and procedures.
- Knowledge and application of heat-treated materials for hardness and durability.
- Understanding of IATF16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.
- Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards.
- Understanding of the manufacturing process and machine requirements to perform basic and repetitive work assignments.
- Ability to provide written communication as needed.
- Math skills for blueprint reading, gaging, and SPC.
- Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.
Qualifications
- Preferred: 2 years of Quality or equivalent experience.
