Quality Control Chemist

Summary

Quality Control Chemist is responsible for conducting chemical and physical testing of pharmaceutical raw materials and finished products using internally developed and compendial test methods. Performs validated analytical testing for strength, impurities, identity, spectroscopy, traditional quantitative analysis, wet chemistry, and chromatography. Ensures accurate documentation and reporting of analytical results while maintaining compliance with SOPs, GMP, GLP, safety guidelines, and company/facility standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical and physical testing of pharmaceutical raw material samples using internally developed and compendial test methods.
• Implement validated test methods for pharmaceutical raw materials and finished products.
• Perform testing for strength, impurities, and identity.
• Perform spectroscopy, traditional quantitative analysis, wet chemical testing, and chromatography.
• Recognize, investigate, and report out-of-specification (OOS), unexpected, or non-routine analytical and product results.
• Recommend solutions for analytical and product-related problems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation as needed.
• Clearly and accurately communicate testing and analytical results, including details of testing performed and results obtained.
• Record and report analytical results in accordance with prescribed laboratory procedures and systems.
• Communicate effectively with outside departments.
• Clean and organize work areas, instrumentation, and testing materials.
• Maintain the required compliance status in accordance with company and facility standards.
• Perform all duties in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science required; preferably in Chemistry or Biology.
• No prior professional experience required.
• Familiarity with common office software.
• Familiarity with chromatographic data acquisition systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good autonomous problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to accurately document laboratory testing and analytical results.
• Ability to follow established laboratory procedures and compliance requirements.
• Ability to recognize and appropriately report OOS, unexpected, and non-routine results.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining laboratory and regulatory requirements.
