Key Responsibilities
- Perform analyses on samples submitted to the Laboratory.
- Inspect, approve or reject packaging of finish goods prior to releasing to inventory, to assure it meets Pace’s standard of quality.
- Analyze and approve or reject raw materials to be used by production.
- Prepare and standardize reagents for analysis and orders.
- Perform calibration and routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintain record or log-book of all analyses, samples received, raw materials, reagents prepared, calibration and maintenance.
Who To Work With
- Work cooperatively with Product Development Chemists in developing analytical methods and establishing Quality Control parameters for products.
- Work cooperatively with other chemists in the efficient operation of the Quality Control laboratory.
What The Job Requires
- BS in Chemistry or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- Skills in computer use, spread sheet, word processor.
- Experience in analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, GCMS desired but not required.
- College level mathematical skills required.
- Require ability to perform corrective action and good judgment in quality determination.
- Able to stand for long periods of time in a laboratory setting.
- Able to perform physical inspection in the plant.
What To Have Done And Know
- Maintain cleanliness and orderly housekeeping in the laboratory.
- Conducting Quality Control tests of production batches.
- Conducting ‘wet chemical’ tests such as pH, titration’s, etc.
- Operating analytical instrumentation including a Gas Chromatograph, HPLC, Viscometers, Electronic Balances.
- Recording of all measurements in a laboratory notebook or on a computer.
- Preparing reports using computer software such as Word, Excel, Access, etc.
