Quality Control Auditor

Responsibilities

• Inspect finished trailers using Carry-On Trailer methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality
• Ensure the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complies with customer requirements
• Review blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods
• Record inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes, and inputting data into the quality database
• Advise the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence
• Propose improvements to the production process
• Update job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training
• Keep measurement equipment operating accurately by verifying calibration, following calibration requirements, and calling for repairs
• Use gauges such as calipers and micrometers to measure products
• Collect and compile statistical quality data
• Audit test methods and inspection plans
• Determine the causes of product defects and reworks
• Follow all OSHA and plant safety rules, including lock-out tag-out
• Assist in quality activities to sustain high product levels
• Read and interpret drawings
• Perform basic math
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections to verify product/component compliance
• Record inspection results on Inspection Data Sheets
• Reject defective parts, label, and segregate as necessary
• Perform duties in accordance with applicable operating procedures (OP) and work instructions (WI)
• Meet quality and productivity standards as defined by Carry-On Trailer
• Work with Engineering and other management to resolve problems
• Effectively communicate issues verbally and through written documentation to all concerned
• Perform product and process audits
• Help define and sustain proper 5S standards in required areas
• Teach and coach operators on proper quality standards
• Facilitate effective hand-off of quality issues to incoming shift peers, ensuring communication of all issues and corrective actions
• Inspect products in receiving, welding, paint, and assembly processes
• Assist Quality Management in any other requested activities

Work Conditions

• Required to use hands, fingers, handle, or feel
• Reach with hands and arms
• Required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel; occasionally required to sit, climb ladders, and balance
• Standing and walking for most of the day
• Spending most of the workday outside in various elements: hot, cold, rain, snow, etc.
• Exposed to moving parts
• Vision abilities required include color vision and ability to adjust focus

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma required
• Formal training or equivalent experience in GD&T a plus
• Experience working with measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM, etc.
• Ability to work alone without constant supervision
• Leadership skills a major plus

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of quality experience working with a Quality Management System within a repetitive manufacturing environment
• Experience troubleshooting issues
• Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement
• Experience in leadership skills
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings/prints
• Working knowledge of computer-based management systems a plus
• Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure
• Ability to work as a key member and leader of a team when required
• High energy and dependable
