AeroShield is a collaborative team of about 25 people dedicated to innovating sustainable materials. They are currently developing super-insulating, transparent inserts for windows using aerogels, aiming to improve energy efficiency and affordability.

Quality Control Associate

We are seeking a Quality Control Associate who enjoys a dynamic, small startup environment and is passionate about learning new skills and processes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to safety and data integrity.

  • Support the inspection of materials used to manufacture silica aerogels and finished aerogel products.
  • Run standard QA/QC, testing, and validation on incoming, in-process, and finished materials.
  • Accurately collect, organize, and document results using AeroShield standard documentation platforms and practices.
  • Collaborate with other members of the technical team to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of testing instrumentation, including preventative maintenance and calibration verification.
  • Train new employees on inspection, testing, and documentation practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a tech-related field.
  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment, performing tests or experiments.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, focusing on accuracy and quality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, distill information, consult, and suggest new approaches.
  • Able to learn quickly by leveraging all possible resources.
  • Highly organized and works well in teams.
  • Passionate about AeroShield values.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience performing material inspections, identifying nonconformances, and escalating appropriately.
  • Experience with aerogel, glass, laminate, or IGU-type materials.
  • Able to perform wet-lab chemical experiments, including working in fume hoods.
