Quality Auditor - 2nd or 3rd Shift

About the role

This position is based in the Portland, TN facility. The role focuses on quality assurance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, leveraging advanced inspection tools and methodologies to ensure product excellence.

Responsibilities

• Perform first article inspections, in-process testing, final inspections, and receiving inspections.
• Use hand gages such as calipers, micrometers, thickness gages, and thread gages for inspections.
• Operate optical comparators, vision measurement systems, or coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
• Utilize testing equipment for torque, force, and Rockwell hardness measurements.
• Work with Measurlink software for SPC charts, X-Bar R Charts, histograms, and control limits.
• Apply basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, email).
• Read blueprints and understand basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Adhere to ISO/TS16949 and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
• Participate in training production employees as needed.
• Perform 5S responsibilities and document defects with recommendations for improvement (Rejection Control Report).
• Follow all company rules, regulations, and work processes.
• Maintain a safe working environment with a focus on safety.
• Contribute to team efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Cross-train with department co-workers to enhance knowledge, flexibility, and efficiency.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management for training or assistance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school preferred.
• ASQ certification preferred.
• 1-2 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in quality assurance.
• Proficiency with inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, indicators, thickness gages, thread gages, optical comparators, vision measurement systems, torque testers, force testers, and Rockwell hardness testers.
• Experience with quality management software preferred.
• Forklift operation experience.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate professionally with employees and the public.
• Ability to work in a team or independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to convert measurements between units preferred.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence.
• Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Willingness to work overtime.
