Quality Assurance Technician 1st Shift

About the Role

A Quality Assurance Technician completes and documents quality control audits, monitors adherence to USDA regulations, verifies HACCP and SSOP tasks, and enforces hygiene behaviors. The role ensures accurate and timely data collection from all plant processes to aid operations in decision-making while continuously striving for improvement.

Responsibilities

• Complete and document primal and sub-primal quality control audits, including weights, measurements, and visual assessments of raw pork products.
• Release or retain product based on audit results, including informing production supervision.
• Monitor adherence to USDA regulations by verifying HACCP and SSOP tasks.
• Perform monitoring and verification tasks prescribed in HACCP and SSOP plans, including enforcing employee hygiene behaviors.
• Conduct other QA inspections such as boneless meat inspections, ambient and product temperature monitoring, X-ray and metal detector function checks, chemical concentration verifications, inspection of packaging materials, animal handling audits, and process/procedural verifications.
• Commit to completing tasks on time to achieve goals.
• Collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers to maintain a positive work atmosphere, prioritizing team success.
• Adhere to scheduled working hours and attend work consistently to ensure smooth operation and effective teamwork.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Two years of previous meat facility experience preferred.
• Trustworthy and highly ethical.
• Self-starter able to work with limited supervision; strong work record and excellent attendance required.
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required for 24-hour operation.
• Strong leadership capabilities with excellent communication skills for positive working relationships in close environments.
• Demonstrated objectivity and openness to others' views, receiving and providing feedback positively.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally exposed to extreme conditions, including fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level can be loud, requiring hearing protection. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in hot, cold, and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather and exposure to dust.

Physical Demands

• Lifts heavy objects up to 30 lbs.
• Walks and stands for long periods of time.
• Performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects using abdominal and lower back muscles without fatigue.
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arms, fingers, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
• Requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
• Must have excellent stamina, vision, and the ability to work from heights.

Pay

Competitive hourly wage.

Schedule

Monday–Friday with some weekend work required.
