Quality Assurance Tech - Flour Mill

About the role

Safety sensitive postion
Schedules: Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., overtime as needed including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sampling and testing on both in-process and finished production to assure that Quality Assurance procedures are properly followed.
• Perform quality check on packaging lines, check lot codes, labels, weight, etc., and take corrective actions when necessary.
• Identify and communicate major quality problems in production and warehouse facilities.
• Educate and instruct plant personnel on general housekeeping and equipment sanitation, and confirm these procedures are being followed.
• Maintain paperwork for hold products and sanitation records.
• Verify HACCP is maintained correctly by production personnel.
• Work closely with plant management and personnel on better operational procedures to improve overall product quality.

Qualifications

• Must be able to make mathematical calculations involving fractions and decimal conversions.
• Must be able to make independent judgements based on written standards and customer requirements.
• Must possess Microsoft Office suite skills.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently, to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds when needed.
• Must be willing and able to climb up to 25 feet.
• Must be willing and able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be willing and able to bend, stoop, twist, turn, push and pull throughout the day as needed.
• Must be willing and able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
• Must be willing and able to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Must be willing and able to follow all safety and food safety rules.

Preferences

• Associate degree in general sciences or one-year experience in Quality Assurance position in a modern food production facility.
