Responsibilities

  • Lead the facility's Food Safety & Quality programs, ensuring compliance with Bigelow standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the site's SQF Practitioner and oversee HACCP, Food Safety, and Quality systems.
  • Partner with Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Corporate Quality teams to promote a culture of food safety and continuous improvement.
  • Lead internal audits and support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Manage non-conforming materials, quality holds, and product disposition decisions.
  • Train and coach employees on food safety, GMPs, sanitation, and quality expectations.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics, analyze trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation and ensure compliance with SQF, FDA, and other applicable requirements.
  • Supervise Quality and Sanitation team members and contribute as a member of the plant leadership team.

Requirements

  • Experience in Food Safety and Quality within a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMPs, FDA regulations, and food safety systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
  • A team player who leads by influence, communicates effectively, and builds trust across the organization.
  • Experience leading audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HACCP and PCQI certification (or willingness to obtain within one year of hire).
  • Experience as an SQF Practitioner.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
