QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (MECHANICAL)
About the role
You will facilitate prevention of defective material through analysis of the Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDR) Trend Analysis Report.
You will propose solutions to proactively correct negative trends and advise the Contracting and Item Management Sections during the pre-award stage as appropriate.
You will coordinate with the packaging specialist when trends identify repeated damage resulting from inadequate packaging or handling.
You will research and apply a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze, and improve effectiveness, efficiency, and work products.
You will develop and/or maintain effective data utilization methods to generate the data required to prepare the report and validate that it is both accurate and complete.
Responsibilities

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
Qualifications
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders, in order to interact with engineering activities to resolve technical and/or quality assurance issues.
- Leadership experience as a key member of cross-functional teams in their efforts to resolve quality and/or logistical roadblocks.
- Analyzing and evaluating reported deficiencies to determine if there is contractual noncompliance.
- Knowledge and experience in using the Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP), and in acting as a screening point of contact for Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDRs).
- The ability to curate data from multiple sources and output in order to compile the information into management reports and have experience using specifications and/or engineering drawings.
- Ensuring that the information provided concerning defective material throughout its lifecycle is utilized to proactively prevent future problems in the acquisition and procurement process.
- Determine the extent of identified problems as related to other material in stock, execute appropriate courses of action to remediate and/or purge deficient material from stock.
