About the role

The role involves monitoring meetings and training sessions provided by OPWDD, actively participating in the Incident Review Committee, and assisting in various aspects of the Quality Assurance (QA) program.

Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings and training sessions given by OPWDD.
  • Be an active member of the Incident Review Committee.
  • Aid the QA/Training Coordinator in the quality assurance program and audit procedures for the DDS network.
  • Create a uniform standard for forms and procedures across the DDS network.
  • Implement a routine and scheduled training program for all employees within the DDS network in CPR, First Aid, SCIP-R, and any other training deemed necessary by OPWDD.
  • Conduct a New Employee Training Class for all new DDS staff.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections of each ICF, IRA, and Family Care home to ensure compliance with TSA, NYS, and NYC policies, directives, and laws.
  • File all incidents into the WSIR System.
  • Ensure the facility maintains an effective incident management program resulting in a decrease in unusual incidents including injuries and allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Provide an independent report on all inspections and audits to the QA/Training Coordinator, Director of Social Services, and/or DDS Director.
  • Assist with providing and scheduling special trainings to improve the quality of care at each ICF, IRA, and Family Care home.
  • Work with Program Managers and Assistant Program Managers to improve programs and services, increase community inclusion opportunities, streamline operations, and reduce spending.
  • Ensure that no resident's funds are misspent or misused.
  • Complete unannounced visits and provide written reports of findings.
  • Provide an independent investigation of each Incident Report focusing on cases of possible neglect, mistreatment, abuse, harassment, civil rights violations, and potential harm to residents.
  • Assist with working closely with the DDS GNY Property Department to ensure all locations are in good repair and safe for human life.
  • Maintain and submit timely and accurate records and reports regarding the health and safety of the residents and the quality of each program.
  • Submit documents into IRMA and act as the liaison between the QA Coordinator, OPWDD, and the Justice Center regarding incidents.
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of each resident's medical, psychological, cognitive, and social needs and ensure programming is appropriate to these needs and treatment goals.
  • Aid in the review of all incidents or investigations that occurred at the Program.
  • Be available and willing to respond to other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or more than 5 years of experience in management, leadership, or Human Resources management.
  • At least 2 years of experience with OPWDD and 1 year of experience in staff training and audit reviews.
  • Demonstrates respect and consideration for the residents being served.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in customer service.
  • Valid Driver's License required (must be able to drive large vehicles).
  • SCIP-R and First Aid/CPR certified.
  • Available via phone and Lotus Notes access 24/7.
