Quality Assurance Specialist

This position supports the Safety and Mission Assurance Services II (SMAS II) contract via a resident management office located in Rockford, IL. US Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related information.

About the role

Perform Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) inspection functions for space flight hardware in accordance with established customer and company requirements. Maintain current company and customer-required training and certifications necessary to uphold quality inspection stamp authorization and warranty expectations.

Responsibilities

• Execute quality requirements in accordance with customer-approved quality assurance plans, policies, and specifications during all phases of hardware fabrication, testing, first article inspections, and final end-item inspections.
• Apply working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 Quality System requirements, or equivalent industry standards, while interpreting complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
• Initiate non-conformance reports, document and report inspection results, and monitor corrective actions for effectiveness.
• Work with company and customer representatives to resolve inspection questions and communicate technical issues to project engineers to ensure compliance with final product specification requirements.
• Interpret and apply higher-level quality assurance system requirements while performing all assigned quality assurance duties.
• Perform accurate mechanical, physical, and visual inspections, conduct process surveillance through witnessing and monitoring techniques, and verify test results and documentation for raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies in accordance with approved inspection documents and specification requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
• Knowledge of higher-level quality assurance system requirement documents, with the ability to interpret and apply QA system-level requirements.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS).
• Must be a team player with strong work ethics and culture-oriented mindset.
• Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers.
• Must be organized with good time management skills and able to work outside normal schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
• Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task. Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
• Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

Pay

Salary range: $105,000.00 to $150,000.00, depending on education and experience.

Schedule

This position is located onsite; some travel may be required. Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.
