Quality Assurance - NDT Technician 1st shift

About the role

As a Grain/Laue Inspector, you will perform visual inspections of product in the grain etched condition, measure grain size and grain angles, and make accept/reject decisions based on acceptance criteria. You will work with Laue X-ray equipment to measure grain angles in single crystal parts and must pass training and certification exams.

Responsibilities

• Align castings on Laue unit.
• Process casting in accordance with approved Laue techniques.
• Verify grain structures are acceptable to required techniques.
• Monitor working area to protect personnel.
• Perform daily equipment preparation and radiation safety inspections.

Requirements

• Laue Level I and II Certification must be obtained to perform this function.
• High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or one to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic arithmetic and geometry and interpret drawings.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Must pass near vision-JAEGER Type No. 1 test and Color Perception test.
• Must be able to maintain certification with periodic testing per industry standards.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stand and talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to walk, sit, squat, kneel, or crouch.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment.
• Exposed to risk of radiation, though actual exposure potential is highly unlikely.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
• May require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job-related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
