About the role

This position oversees and maintains quality control procedures and programs to ensure customer expectations are consistently met in a new, highly automated facility in Columbus, Mississippi. The Quality Assurance Manager reports directly to the Operations Manager with a dotted line to the Corporate Director of Quality Management.

Responsibilities

  • Verify that inspection procedures used by all personnel are accurate and compliant with established quality control standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of quality professionals to ensure parts meet all customer specifications.
  • Maintain and update quality control standards and procedures, ensuring all relevant personnel are informed and compliant.
  • Support the management team in maintaining ISO 9001 compliance and assist during ISO and customer audits.
  • Oversee the inspection of incoming and outgoing materials to confirm specifications are met.
  • Evaluate rejected material (both internal and external) and manage the corrective action system to reduce nonconformances and waste.
  • Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions to customers and ensure all requirements are satisfied.
  • Develop and implement programs to educate, train, and update all personnel on quality control procedures.
  • Manage the gage calibration system, ensuring all gages are properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Integrate new inspection technologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the inspection process.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Corporate Director of Quality Management.

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience in a quality management role, preferably within the metal fabrication industry.
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent, preferably with a technical or engineering focus.
  • Lead activities and reporting to gain and maintain IATF/ISO certification.
  • Familiar with customer/supplier PPM.
  • Utilize quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, Control plans, 8D, 5 Why.
  • Experience with Steel/Aluminum surface inspection for exposed and unexposed automotive applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Advanced skills in problem solving and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Experience in hiring, developing, and managing a team of quality professionals.
  • Proficient in using measurement tools such as calipers, height gauges, protractors, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
